sunday 5th december 2010 shooting schedule

Shooting Day 5    Location- Kilburn Park Duration- 1hr 30mins
Cast- Concept Crew- Daniel Abdullah Jordan Mena Date: Sunday 5th December 2010
As the director, I planned for this shooting day to be the last shooting as we had to reshoot some things because of a few faults in the footage such as glitches, blurs in the camera and some framing and camera movement wasn’t correct. On this day, we reshot the faults first then we moved on to do some new shootings and master shots which came out very well.
On Sunday 5th December 2010, we all focused on reshooting some footage from the editing logs. I also had a planned out schedule in what I wanted to reshoot on this day and what master shots we wanted to shoot. We arrived about 15 minutes early to setup the equipment for shooting and to also experiment different camera shots, angles and movement. This was a pre-production setup to prepare for the shooting. Firstly, I directed Jordan in shooting a straight eye level angle shot which focused on the artist facial features as I wanted a medium shot. We shot verse 2 and 3 at the red wall location where I also explored other camera angles and shots here such as a low angle shot with various zoom in and zoom outs and also hand held camera movements. After this scene, we shot a continuous tracking shot at a round walk pathway which came out very nice. I overtook on the camera here where I shot a medium shot of the artist just doing the 2nd verse and 3rd verse. Mena was responsible for the audio of the song to make sure the song goes with what the artist is doing to make syncing more simpler when it comes to syncing in the editing suite. After Jordan shot the 2nd verse in a car park area which was a continuous tracking movement with a medium shot. There was also a side angle used here where the artist had a mixture of open and closed body language. Every shot we took, we went through at least 3 test shots and played it back to see what the footage looked like. I then wanted to go on to do the master shot at the walkway through bushes. As this location was a good place to shoot the master as it was a long stretch and blended in with the grime/rap genre as it was surrounded by estates, graffiti, alleyways and secluded roads. I decided to get 2 cameras to shoot this master shot. Abdullah and Jordan were in charge of camerawork here. I had a plan where I wanted Jordan to do a medium long shot of the artist from a side shot tracking back and where Abdullah did a medium close up at a side angle. By filming both of these shots for the master shot, I was able to use both of these shots to create continuity editing which made the shots, angles and performance very effective. As we were running on time we did 1 test shot of this master as I already knew what I wanted to do visually in this shot- how to start it and how to end it. Lastly, we went to a different location in South Kilburn to reshoot a shot at the graffiti wall as this was non-useable when we shot it at previous shootings because the footage came up with some glitches and it also came up with rain marks on the lens. This important factor was placed in the logging sheet as we had to reshoot this footage. Abdullah conducted a low angle shot of the artist tracking back slowly in making sure the camera was steady. This was a hand held camera shot which focused on the artist’s emotions and movement in the frame.  This scene was shot twice to make sure that the footage could be useable if one of the other scenes did not come out to be effective. As the director, I made sure that each footage was played back in ensuring that there was no faults in the footage produced. Everything on this day was performed and set to schedule as we did not go overtime and as a group, we managed to fit in all the aspects of creative selection in making an effective construction for the media product.
