shot list/shooting pictures and commentary as to effectiveness for each shot

This is where we shot one part of the video which was after the 1st chorus. Abdullah and Jordan shot this together effectivetly using the tripod as I directed what type of camera shot and angle we wanted. I went with a medium shot with a low angle shot. Our artist rapped part of the 2nd verse here just expressing his emotions/feelings to the camera and sometimes looking away from the camera where we wanted to challenge the codes and coventions by breaking the rules as this is done in most UK music video with US codes and convention explored.

This is a new location that has been used from today which was the second shooting [Tuesday 26th October 2010]. We used these steep steps for the part of the chorus. Yet again, I wanted to perform a low angle shot with a medium close up making him look dominant and superior to the audience. This location was not used for the chorus as further on in the project, I found better locations to shoot the whole chorus in making it more interesting.

Same here this is the other set of steps used for part of the chorus as we performed the same camera angle and shot as the picture above. The only difference is that we performed a sharp cut from the corner of the stairs so it looks like the artist jumped out rapping the chorus. When we went back to the editing suite, we decided that we didn't want to use this scene as we replaced this location with another location for the chorus to be done.

This is a new location from today, shooting 2 [Tuesday 26th October 2010]. At this location, we got the artist to perform his second verse. Jordan performed a very long shot while zooming out slowly at the same time. I also went through a test shot first by making sure timing was correct and camera shots and angles were correct. Everything fitted in the correct time as me being director timed how long it would take for the artist to rap the second verse and get to the camera.

This is where our artist was rapping the 1st verse of the song at location 6 [dead end road with graffiti walls].

This is also another shooting where the artist raps the intro of the song and we get more open body language expressing his tension and frustation to the target audience. Also as me being the director I thought of contrasting the artist feelings and emotions with the boy's facial expression and body language on the graffiti wall.

In this picture, I am showing the artist the footage of the pictures above and what he done so he is aware of his work and I can tell him what to improve on as we wen through a lot of test shots/test runs.

This is where Abdullah and Jordan were capturing the artist rapping in front of the camera as I took the pictures to show what he was trying to convey to the audience e.g what his actions mean, is he happy or is he sad?

This is where I directed the timing of when the artist should rap his lyrics and what actions he should do in making the video look realistic.

This is where I told Jordan that I wanted a close up shot of the artist by using hand held camera to make the shot look effective.

This is where I explained to the artist about what I wanted him to do next in his 2nd verse as we were moving to a new location. Abdullah done photography on this one.

This is where we were getting prepared and ready for the start of the music video for shooting.

This is where the shooting for the first part of the video begins. With 1 camera man capturing the artist at a low angle with a medium close up and another cameraman capturing the artist with a meduim long shot. This is what I wanted both cameramen to capture as I wanted the audience to see this shot from 2 different perspectives to make it effective for the spectators.

This is where the artist shows more of a open body language and he brings out facial expressions still from 2 different perspectives in making the shot look intersting and effective.

This is where I explained to the artist what actions to do when saying his lyrics.

This is where Abdullah explained to the artist what actions he needs to do and when he needs to stop and start.

All of these video shoot pictures were taken during the production/making of the video on Shooting day 2 which was Tuesday 26th October 2010. Camerawork by Abdullah and Jordan  Directing and Photography by Daniel Acheampong.
